“I became involved with Find The Cause three years ago through my dear friend, Tricia Wynn. I met Tricia many years ago, when she was just a young woman in college.

In recent years we have reconnected and, over dinner about five years ago, she shared with me that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. I was shocked when she shared the statistic that 90% of all those diagnosed have no family history!

I know of no one in my family, as far back as my great-grandmothers, who has had breast cancer. Because of this, I thought my family had a better chance of not being diagnosed, that is until Tricia enlightened me.

This statistic frightened me. I wanted to know more and why this is happening to younger and younger women (and men).

Tricia introduced me to Find The Cause. I am so very thankful for their work and for the research being done by the Find The Cause Consortium.

I have eaten a plant-based diet for many years. I always look at food labels. I buy organic and I stay away from buying foods that are processed. With the information I have learned from Find The Cause, I have become even more vigilant.

My younger daughter Kara, a mother of two small children, keeps me on track too by sharing her research on foods, cookware, plastics, makeup, pesticides and more.

I realize that we cannot live in a bubble. Harmful chemicals are all around us. But, thanks to Find the Cause, the research they fund and their educational initiatives, I have hope that my cherished grandchildren will grow up in a safer world.”
