Providence, RI – 100 Westminster Street, the flagship building of Paolino Properties, will flicker red lights at the top of the building this evening to honor healthcare workers, public safety officials and other frontline employees who risk their own wellbeing in order to safeguard public health and keep the state functioning during the coronavirus pandemic. 100 Westminster Street will be joining hundreds of other businesses and residents in Providence as part of a citywide effort to illuminate the skyline.
“We should strive to support all those working tirelessly in the healthcare industry to save lives and all those who are working on the front lines to provide us with supplies and services that we need every day, from postal workers, to pharmacists and grocery store clerks, and so many others,” said Joseph R. Paolino Jr., Managing Partner at Paolino Properties. “I hope that this small gesture of appreciation lets them know that we see them and we appreciate all that they are doing for our community every day.”
The Citywide Good Night Lights, organized by the City of Providence, will commence at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, with Providence’s Public Safety departments preparing special salutes, beginning at Rhode Island Hospital near India Point Park, and progressing towards Miriam Hospital.
Those who wish to show their support are asked to observe all existing regulations regarding social distancing – so shine a flashlight from your own front yard or porch or flash high beams from the safety of your own vehicle. Participants are also asked to post about the event on social media with the hashtag #GoodNightLightsPVD.
100 Westminster Street will subsequently switch its lights to shine green at 9 p.m. to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first Earth Day.
