Paolino Properties and Derek Wagner, owner and executive chef of renowned Providence restaurant nicks on broadway, announced the opening of a new restaurant at 100 Westminster Street this May in the former Au Bon Pain location. This announcement comes as part of Paolino Properties celebrates a $75 million investment in the downtown since 2016.
nicks on westminster will offer a rotating menu of quality-driven and locally-sourced dishes in a fun, vibrant new space that offers both quick service and sit-in dining options in the heart of the city’s financial district. The 4,500-square foot restaurant will also feature an upbeat cafe and bar for patrons to enjoy signature craft beverages.
nicks on westminster will be Chef Wagner’s second premier restaurant in the city, and continues his mission of bringing community-supported, high-quality dining to the capital city. Wagner, who has lived off of Broadway for twenty years, chose to expand on Westminster Street because of the iconic downtown streets and chance to try new to-go options for busy downtown customers.
“I have so much pride in Providence and I knew that when the time came to open a second location, it would be right here,” said Wagner. “This is the community that I love and that has supported me, and I am excited to capture the energy of nicks on broadway and bring it to a new audience. I’m looking forward to creating new quick-service and cafe options while keeping true to our mission of providing fresh, local, delicious food to everyone who stops in.”
Joseph R. Paolino, Jr., managing partner of Paolino Properties expressed his happiness that Wagner had chosen the Class A office building for his new restaurant, which will continue the revitalization of the downtown restaurant scene.
“nicks on broadway is not just a local dining destination but was a pioneer of the up-and-coming restaurant culture that Providence is known for today,” said Paolino. “I have been frequenting nicks since I lived next door to its original location at 259 Broadway. To have Derek bring the atmosphere and high-quality menu that nicks is known for to the downtown will bring new excitement to the restaurant scene and really complement our new boutique hotel at 30 Kennedy Plaza, The Beatrice. I want downtown to be an area where people want to live, work, and dine, and this is another great step in that direction. I know that our tenants are really looking forward to nicks opening, and so am I.”
nicks on westminster is slated to open this May, with breakfast, lunch, and dinner service as well as quick-service lunch, brunch, and to-go options Monday through Friday.
